To click from afar

"Nostalgia and the desires of seeing my city kill me. What about José Martí street that when I was a young person was the main artery of Pinar del Rio? Why don't they publish an article in its web site to see it?" Those are frequent sentences in Guerillero web site, the weekly publication of the westernmost province of the biggest island of the Antilles in the Caribbean Sea.

Through its different editions, many Cubans who live in other countries of the world because of different reasons or circumstances know about the life of the earth where they were born.

They like to read it and are highly motivated by the images of Viñales’s Valley, the peninsula of Guanacahabibes, the eclectic architecture of some of its museums and of other places reminding them a close contact, a kiss, a word or a good-bye.

They thank the collaborators of www.guerrillero.co.cu for showing to the world the beauty of Cuba and the achievements of its people. That is an advantage that propitiates the assimilation of new technologies in the different media of the country.

Digital journalism involves people in the writer's nature and the sources that he uses. They are fundamental because they constitute the subjects or objects that generate, contain, give or transfer the information from an active, passive, primary, secondary or documental position.

This facilitates the access of men and women from all latitudes to different journalistic productions in Internet, for conditioning an approach to the truthfulness of events and to the appreciation of an exercise that is not only limited to the network, but also to other mass media taken to the world of technology.

The conditions, of genus, race and social status don't differentiate people residing in the cyberspace from the real life. They are human beings who miss what they consider lost and they try to recover it starting from their memories.

Not in vain Cuban residents in the Florida read the national web sites and ask in their messages on the position of the Cuban people after the measures dictated by the North American president George W. Bush.

The policies of his government try to put an end to the human beings' feelings, because they forget the sanguine and affective ties that unite them.

Therefore, the soul has illusions and the bird wings, that is what sustains it. That maxim, maybe, was what made a colleague of mine, almost when concluding these lines, to tell me that his daughter, there, in the monster, turns her primary thoughts of the year 89, when she left the country thinking that it was one of the big wonders of the world.

In the morning, she phoned him to tell him on her melancholy and that patience, like a philosopher said, is bitter, but its fruits are sweet, therefore, patience is the art of waiting. Now she is motivated when knowing that the Cuban nation fights for the freedom of its people.

It is impossible that they receive the newspapers of the native country daily, but that is one of the advantages of inserting them in the world of Internet.

Their pages are daily updated and the Island, just 90 miles far from the south of the United States, is able to penetrate in the heart of those who are not here today, but they click from afar.
